Trek Overview
The Marangu Route is one of the most popular routes on Mount Kilimanjaro and the only route featuring mountain hut accommodation throughout the trek. Known as the "Coca-Cola Route," it offers a gradual ascent, comfortable sleeping huts, and excellent acclimatization opportunities while passing through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and arctic summit zones before reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Moshi.
Upon arrival, meet your mountain guide and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Attend a comprehensive trek briefing, equipment inspection, and safety orientation while preparing for your Kilimanjaro adventure. Relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before beginning your ascent of Africa’s highest mountain.

Day 2 – Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Depart Moshi after breakfast and drive to Marangu Gate for trek registration.
Begin your Kilimanjaro trek through lush rainforest trails rich with wildlife, towering trees, and diverse vegetation. Follow scenic paths toward Mandara Hut while enjoying fresh mountain air and beautiful natural surroundings. This exciting first trekking day introduces you to Kilimanjaro’s remarkable ecosystems.

Day 3 – Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Depart Mandara Hut after breakfast and continue trekking toward Horombo Hut.
Leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone characterized by giant lobelias, heather vegetation, and spectacular mountain scenery. Enjoy panoramic views while ascending steadily toward Horombo Hut, where breathtaking landscapes and cooler temperatures provide a memorable experience on the mountain.

Day 4 – Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
Enjoy acclimatization hike around Horombo area before returning to camp.
Spend the day acclimatizing to higher elevations through a guided hike toward Zebra Rocks before returning to Horombo Hut. This important acclimatization day increases summit success chances while allowing you to enjoy magnificent views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding alpine environment.

Day 5 – Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Depart Horombo Hut after breakfast and trek toward Kibo Hut.
Continue through the alpine desert zone toward Kibo Hut, the final camp before summit day. Trek across dramatic volcanic terrain while enjoying expansive mountain views and preparing mentally and physically for the challenging summit attempt scheduled shortly after midnight.

Day 6 – Summit Day, Marangu Gate & Departure
Begin midnight summit ascent then descend to Marangu Gate and transfer to Moshi.
Start your summit attempt shortly after midnight and reach Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point, at sunrise. Celebrate your achievement while enjoying spectacular glacier views before descending through diverse ecological zones to Marangu Gate. Receive your certificate and transfer back to Moshi, concluding an extraordinary adventure.
